Session Types

A “standard session” is the typical 60-minute (Thursday) or 45-minute (Friday) breakout session presentation. Please share your own studies, techniques, experiences, education, and practices on how you further the idea of “learning to Learn.”

The Center for Educational Research and Teaching Innovation (CERTI) and the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Missouri S&T supported several mini-grants towards educational research projects.

Instructors interested in contributing such a presentation can indicate their preference on the next page under the Friday time slots.

CERTI Mini-grant recipients can opt to do a Poster Presentation instead of a 20-25 minute session on Friday, March 17. See "Poster Session" below for details.

As an alternative to submitting a proposal for a full presentation, you are welcome to submit an idea for a poster session. Poster sessions will be set up in the Atrium of Butler-Carlton Hall, around 4:30 p.m., and will be on display during our Vendor Reception at the end of the day on Thursday, March 16, 2017.

  • PRINT: We can accommodate several different sized posters, but you’ll most likely want to stick with a standard size. These sizes are available at most print shops and places that accept large print jobs, such as Staples® or Office Depot®. An excellent size for posters is 36” wide by 24” tall. EdTech will provide easels. Poster presenters are responsible for all printing, laminating, and foamboard mounting costs.
  • ELECTRONIC: We can accommodate electronic posters with our MinerBytes™ digital signage capability. Posters for electronic display should be set to a size of 1080x1920 pixels, and image files in as high a resolution as possible. Files should be either .PDF or .PNG format.

A “Learning Stack” session is a shorter presentation (15-25 minutes) where you will present a brief overview of strategies, techniques, methods, innovations, or tools that have helped you encourage and motivate learning in your teaching environment (K – 12, community college, higher education, etc.). Audience Q & A will be encouraged, so please keep your presentations concise and to the point!

Multiple “Learning Stack” sessions will take place during the same time slot as a standard session (e.g. 1 – 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 will have 2 Learning Stack sessions during this time slot).
