This presentation talks about how Mizzou K-12 Online trained instructors to use the Canvas LMS by creating a self-paced course in Canvas, and the features that the online instructors have noted they enjoy using. Also, we’ll talk about how we create aesthetically engaging courses by using JavaScript to inject CSS to style courses to make the course a place for instructors and students feel connected.

This presentation will be a sneak preview into the newly designed community page (help.instructure.com), something that admins are and will need to be highly familiar with, in order to be most successful. The presentation will show the current design of the community and the new designs, previewing some of the highlights and new features.
~ Building Online Instructor Expectations: The Evangel University Certification Process

Evangel University has created a Certification process for online instructors who are new to teaching in the online environment. As part of the Certification process, new online instructors go through a four week online course via Canvas. Built from Creative Commons and custom content resources, the multimedia rich online course provides an online student experience for instructors while imparting expectations and requirements for course design and University policies. Flexibility has been built into the course so that instructors can work collaboratively with a learning cohort of peers or independently through specific modules.
~ Watch it - Read it - Try it: Maximizing Mathematical Topics in the Online Classroom

We all know that teaching any type of mathematical topic in the online environment presents a special challenge for students and instructors. This session will share how Maryville University takes a Watch it - Read it - Try it approach to mathematical topics, giving students control of how they choose to learn the content. In addition, you will learn how to maximize the use of speedgrader to view and comment on the handwritten work of your student. Supplemental technology: Explain Everything, Noteshelf, Screencast-O-Matic, Reflector, and a good stylus.
~ Connecting with Your Students: Canvas Power Tools and Third-Party Integrations

Learn how Michigan Tech instructors use Crocodoc and Turnitin to provide rich feedback and evaluation of Canvas assignment submissions. These tools are fully immersed in the Canvas UI providing for added efficiency. An overview of additional third party integrations to our Canvas platform will include EvaluationKIT (course evaluations), Huskycast (Panopto-based video platform), i>clicker (student response system), and Piazza (rich Q&A platform). See how these tools provide an enhanced, feature-rich Canvas learning environment for our students and instructors.
~ New Tools for Old Schools: A Blended Training Approach

When you get new tool, you can’t necessarily approach its implementation in the same old way. This session will focus on how the implementation of Canvas is changing the S&T approach to technology training. We’re moving from synchronous group trainings to individualized and targeted sessions with online components. This blended approach to Canvas course design provides the best of yesterday with the innovation of today.
